Val di terra
We like to promote our Val Di Terra wines by creating fun and memorable experiences for our fellow wine-lovers. At our recent wine tastings, our guests have asked what we would recommend as the perfect cheese and wine pairing.
Read more to find out our suggestions.
Val Di Terra Cap Classique 2019
Made from Chenin Blanc with mouthfeel of creamy mousse, don’t look any further than a creamy French Brie
Val Di Terra Chenin Blanc 2021
A youthful fresh wine with quince and pear aromas on the nose, this wine has a fresh, crunchy apple and grapefruit flavour. It can handle rich and creamy dishes, so it will stand up well to a classic Italian Gorgonzola.
Val Di Terra Sauvignon Blanc 2021
A crisp wine with well balanced acidity and asparagus & fig flavours. Here, I would suggest Chevré as the bold earthiness of the goat’s cheese will compliment both the acid and the fruit of the wine.
Val DI Terra Rosé 2021
This dry Rosé has distinctive strawberries and cream notes. A mellow and buttery cheese such as Havarti would be a perfect partner.
Val Di Terra Merlot 2020
This classic example of the softer Bordeaux style wine features blackberries and blackcurrants. Choose a mild semi-hard cheese such as a Dutch Gouda or Boerenkaas.
Val Di Terra Pinotage 2020
A proudly South African varietal with distinctive ripe black cherry, plum and mulberry notes. This wine can handle a stronger cheese like Gruyère.
Val Di Terra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
A robust wine with good tannins, leafiness and bold berry fruit. This is the King of Red wine and so you can challenge it with a Mature Cheddar.
Complimentary sides
Always remember that cheese should enhance the flavour of the wine, so guide your guests on the recommended combinations. At the same time, don’t be too prescriptive as everyone’s palate is different and you want your guests to enjoy experimenting. Remember that we all eat with our eyes and colour provides interest and variety. Do this by adding some preserves, fresh fruit, relishes, nuts and olives. If your budget allows, turn it into a Charcuterie board by adding some cured meats and paté. Lastly, make sure you have a combination of crackers, bread and biscuits. The different textures will enhance the flavour combinations even further.
